DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning & Sweep Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning & Sweep in Puyallup: What to Know First

We provide independent DuraFlex chimney cleaning and sweep in Puyallup and the South Hill corridor, with most DuraFlex liner inspections and cleanings booked within a week during burning season. A standard DuraFlex sweep with NFPA 211 Level 2 camera inspection runs $249-$379, and we deliver a written price before any work starts - no exceptions. This page is for homeowners who know they’ve got a DuraFlex system and want a tech who understands the difference between a DuraFlex SS and a DuraFlex HT, not someone who treats every stainless liner the same. If you’re in Puyallup, South Hill, or the surrounding valley and need your DuraFlex chimney cleaned, inspected, or diagnosed, call us at (253) 323-5667. Corrine Halstead and our team have worked on DuraFlex systems across this market for years.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • DuraFlex SS (stainless single-wall): premature seam separation at the flex joints. The SS uses a lighter-gauge corrugated body with crimped seam construction. In Puyallup’s wet winters, condensation runs down the flue and pools in the low corrugations where the seam meets the collar. We’ve pulled SS liners in the South Hill area where the bottom three feet looked clean but the seam above the smoke chamber had opened enough to leak combustion gases into the chase. We camera-scan the full length, mark the separation point, and replace the failed section with OEM DuraFlex SS or upgrade to HT if the appliance runs hot.
  • DuraFlex HT (heavy-wall): thermal fatigue cracking at the terminal end. The HT is built for higher temperatures, but homeowners running wood stoves on South Hill often overfire during cold snaps. The HT’s heavier wall holds up better than the SS, but repeated thermal cycling still cracks the collar where it exits the crown. We find this with the camera about 30 percent of the way into a Level 2 inspection. The fix is a new HT terminal assembly, installed with a proper storm collar and sealant rated for the HT’s expansion rate. We source through Haven’s buying network to keep the price honest.
  • DuraFlex Pro: creosote bridging in the reduced-diameter sections. The Pro line uses a slightly tighter corrugation pitch for better flexibility during installation. That same tight pitch gives creosote a surface to bridge across, especially with the Douglas fir and western red cedar common in Puyallup firewood deliveries. Class III glazed creosote in a Pro liner doesn’t brush out clean with standard poly brushes. We rotary-flail the buildup, then camera-verify the flue is open to full diameter before we sign off.
  • DuraFlex SW (smooth-wall): liner collapse from improper support spacing. The SW is marketed as easier to clean, which is true when it’s straight. But we’ve found SW liners in Puyallup homes where the original installer stretched the support spacing to save on parts, and the liner sagged between supports. The sag creates a low spot that collects moisture and speeds corrosion. We document the sag with the camera, quote a support band and refractory pack repair in writing, and never recommend a full reline when a targeted fix will do.
  • DuraFlex tee-body failures: cleanout door gasket degradation. The cast tee body on both SS and HT systems uses a fiberglass rope gasket around the cleanout door. After five to seven years of Puyallup’s freeze-thaw cycles, that gasket hardens and leaks. During a sweep, we pull the door, inspect the gasket condition, and replace it with OEM-spec material if it’s cracked or compressed. A leaking tee gasket draws room air into the flue, cools the draft, and can cause smoke spillage - it’s a five-minute check that prevents a callback.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning & Sweep Process
  1. 1
Call and schedule. A live person answers, asks what appliance you’re burning and what DuraFlex line you have if you know it. We book a window and text when the tech is en route.
  2. 2
Camera goes in first. Corrine’s rule: we run the NFPA 211 Level 2 camera inspection before touching a brush. We document liner condition, creosote class, joint integrity, and any mechanical damage. The customer watches the feed in real time.
  3. 3
Written price, written scope. We name what we found, what it costs, and what the warranty covers. No verbal estimates. No work starts until the customer has the written price in hand - Clause 1 of the Haven Standard.
  4. 4
Clean and repair. We sweep with brushes matched to the DuraFlex corrugation pitch, replace failed components with OEM or quality aftermarket parts sourced through our Haven buying network, and perform any liner repairs quoted.
  5. 5
Post-work camera verification and documentation. We run the camera again to confirm the flue is clean and intact, then deliver a photo record and written report - Clause 4 of the Haven Standard, practiced since 2009.
  6. 6
365-Day Done Right Promise. If anything in the scope fails, we make it right. The promise is stamped on every job.
